A little bit of magic #4

This one might be a little bit to magic for the category, but I think it fits and I basically rule here. ‘Practical Magic’ is the story of two sisters Sally and Gillian Owens.   They grow up in a cursed family, where the men tend to die and so does their father and they’re raised by their aunts. Because of what has happened to their family Sally is terrified of love, while Gillian loves being in love and falls for a new man every day. Being witches and feeling sad for Sally, who seems lonely the aunts use magic to get Sally a man. They get two children, but then the curse hits and the dear hubby dies. Meanwhile, Gillian has fallen in love with a new man, Jimmy, who unfortunately has a violent side. They accidentally kill him but since Gillian insist that she loves him, they decide to bring him back with magic. What comes back, however, is far darker that either of them ad expected.

This was one of my favorite movies growing and made me fall in love with both Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman and magic. I think a lot girl have fantasied about being a witch and when I had those dream I found this film. The different relations in te family is what really makes this for me. There three sets of sisters and they all have the same kind of dynamic and really like seeing them all together. The magic is quite understated, with the exception of bringing someone back to life and I like the use of magic. I don’t know who would love this film as much as I do, other than me. For me it’s a film I watch whenever I want to coy it up and watch something I like and I like this. Why you should like it, I dont’ know. Watch it and judge for yourself.

Based on a true story #5

As the poster says “the extraordinary true story” of Michael Oher and how he came to be an All American football player. It is of course the 2009 hit ‘The Blind Side’. Michael Oher starts out as ‘Big Mike’ a boy growing up in the project, with no idea of who his father is and with a drugaddict for a mother. He has close to no education and finds himself homeless. Leigh Anne Tuohy (oscar winning Sandra Bullock) and her family takes him in and gives him a home. They then help him to get his grades up and gets him onto the football team and interest is quickly giving to him by colleges. He gets his grades up, besomes a great football player and gets a family.

this is just a heartwarming story. The thought of taking a stranger into your own home frightens most of us, not to mention only few of us would have the financial freedom to do so. But to see someone actually do it and with that kindness change a life is just downright lovely. Sure some things are probably changed from what actually happened, things have been made a little bit nicer. I for one find it incredibly hard to believe that someone exists as awesome as Leigh Ann Touhy, played brilliantly by Sandra Bullock. But God, how I love the idea of that kind of kindness and God how I love this movie.
